Canada-Vietnam Business Council Set up

The Canada-Vietnam Business Council has made debut in Toronto city, Canada’s biggest economic and financial center, attracting the participation of big companies from Canada, the U.S., Japan and Hong Kong, state media reported on December 17.
 
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hung said the council will serve as a bridge to promote the two-country businesses activities.
 
The council will provide information on both countries’ economic, trade, investment and law policies and establish a business network to help the two-side enterprises study each other’s markets, he noted.
 
The ambassador also said the council will organize seminars, business forums and exhibitions as well as promote cultural exchange and educational and training cooperation program.
 
The former Minister of Canadian Heritage Sabuchi and General Director of Canada’s Entertainment and Travel Company Dani Leon have been selected as the council’s co-Presidents.
 
Founding members of the council include Canada’s Trust Bank, IBM, Hitachi, Cathay Pacific, IBM, Hitachi, Cathay Pacific and some other Canadian companies.
 
Two-way trade between Canada and Vietnam has increased 20 per cent over the last two years. Bilateral trade is expected to exceed US$1 billion this year, said Matt Fraser, senior trade commissioner at the Embassy of Canada to Vietnam. (Vietnam & World Economy)
