NewOpenWorld, the organizer of the new world natural wonder selection, April 14 temporarily removed Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay from the world wonders nomination list, state media has said.
The main reason for the elimination is attributed to the violation of Vietnamese websites which have broken copyright regulations of the organizer, Ngo Hung Chief Manager of Ha Long Bay’s Management Board, explained.
NewOpenWorld had sent a mail to these websites, asking them to stop the violations. However, the websites ignored its warning.
“Only when the local websites stopped their violations, will Ha Long Bay get permission to come back the list,” an official from the organizer said.
Relevant agencies have sent an official dispatch to the organizer, committing to soon deal with all violations.
Ha Long Bay is the only nominee of Vietnam on the list after Fansipan Mountain and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park were crossed off.
Ha Long Bay of Vietnam has so far jumped to the first position in the second phase of the voting for seven new world wonders on New Open World’s website

The voting is currently in its second phase of the four phase bid in which website voters will be asked to provide their private e-mail addresses and finish a list of seven of the nominated sites as natural wonders of the world.
Twenty-one sites out of a short-list of 77 nominees, that will be announced in January 2009, will be selected by a board of advisors from the New Open World Organization in the third phase.
The last phase will be done in the form of a global vote scheduled from 2009 to 2010.
The organization plans to release the final result in the summer of 2010. (Young People, Youth, Labor)
