Inmarsat, Vizada Partner to Address Growing Demand for Satellite
Alongside Vishipel, Vietnam’s maritime and public telecommunications service provider, representatives from Inmarsat and Vizada come to Hanoi recently for a hands-on training seminar to potential business users on harnessing the power of satellite communications. The teams will then move to Ho Chi Minh City for a similar event on May 9th. The one-day workshops planned for both cities will introduce Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) for land users and FleetBroadband for the maritime segment.
Inmarsat also shared the results of a satcom survey conducted in 2007 in Vietnam, with responses from 514 companies. Commissioned by Inmarsat, the survey aimed to research and understands the state of the satcom market in Vietnam. Respondents were surveyed on the current deployment of satellite communications within their organizations, their need for satcom equipment within the next 12 months and their knowledge of satcom providers in Vietnam, amongst other questions. The results revealed that just over half (53 per cent) of respondents currently use satellite communications equipment, while 56 per cent of respondents expressed a need for satcom equipment in the next 12 months. A requirement for mobile broadband communications outside of urban areas was identified by 42 per cent of respondents, and 6 out of 10 respondents (62 per cent) had heard of Inmarsat BGAN..
With the increased need for satellite communications in the Vietnam market, the seminars aim to share with local businesses how they can integrate mobile satellite services into their existing operations to improve the mobility and flexibility of their workforce, both on land and on sea. At the seminars, FleetBroadband - the first maritime communications service to offer cost-effective broadband data and voice, simultaneously, through a compact antenna - will be introduced to the Vietnam market for the first time. Noemie De Rozieres, Account Manager, Inmarsat commented, “From the survey, it is evident that demand for satellite communications is and will continue to grow in the Vietnam market. This, we believe, can be addressed by the unique capabilities of BGAN and FleetBroadband - by the global reach these services provide, the ease of use and integration into their existing operation.”
