Kumho Express, the leading transportation company of South Korea, has officially penetrated into the Vietnamese market by opening a joint stock Vietnamese – South Korean Kumho Viet Thanh on August 28 in Hanoi.
The Kumho Viet Thanh Express Transportation Co. Ltd, a joint venture between Viet Thanh of Vietnam and Kumho Express, has a registered capital of US$4 million, in which the Vietnamese side contributed 51 per cent.
Kumho Viet Thanh Director Mun Jin Sik said that with 200 high-quality imported buses, the company will provide bus service for passengers from Hanoi to Ha Long, Haiphong, Thanh Hoa and Lang Son in the first phase of its development plan.
Buses for the Hanoi-Ha Long route are ready for service while the service for remaining routes will be launched later this year, Mun Jin Sik said.
He said in the second phase the company would open bus routes from Hanoi to central Danang city, Vientiane in Laos, and Kunming and Nanning in China.
These coaches will operate under a standard such as on time start or stop at the right place and on each coach, there are stewardesses like those on the planes who are ready to give guidance to customers during the whole route.
This is a prominence as compared with the present bus and coach services in Vietnam.
According to Kumho Viet Thanh leaders, with experiences of Kumho Express in the South Korea and China and well-organized operation and good services, the company will contribute to improving the transportation in Vietnam.
Earlier in Nov 2007, Kumho Express and the Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (Samco) also jointly set up a limited liability company, namely Kumho Samco Express, to transport passengers from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, Da Lat and Phan Thiet. (Vietnam Economic Times)
