Greek President Wraps up First Visit to Vietnam
Greek President wrapped up October 16 his first official visit to Vietnam, with important agreements signed in a bid to reinforce the bilateral relations and push up the modest economic and trade ties.
During his talks with Vietnamese leaders, President Papoulias asserted that Greece always attaches great importance to strengthening its friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, and that it is willing to become a gateway for Vietnam’s products to enter Europe, the Middle East, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea regions.
Both sides’ leaders agreed that in the short-term, the two nations will deploy the implementation of the signed deals and agreements and organize activities to promote trade, investment, tourism and culture, with the particular focus on potential areas such as shipping transport, tourism and the conservation of historical relics.
During his six-day stay in Vietnam, President Papoulias paid tribute to the late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum, laid a wreath in memory of the fallen combatants, attended the Vietnam-Greece Business Forum, and visited localities of Quang Ninh and Thua Thien Hue.
On the occasion, the Greek leader attended the launching ceremony of Nguyen Van Linh Secondary School, which was built with the funding of EUR2,000 from the Greek government. (Website of CPV, Saigon Liberation)
