Greek President Karolos Papoulias and his wife will stay in Vietnam from October 11-16 for an official visit at the invitation of the host Nguyen Minh Triet, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said on October 6.

The coming trip is in reciprocation for Triet’s visit to Greece earlier June, in which the two sides signed an agreement on culture cooperation and agreed to increase bilateral ties of tourism and marine services.

Vietnam and Greece officially set up diplomatic ties in April 1975. However, two-way trade between the two nations is still modest, approximately US$100 million.

Last year, Greece opened its embassy in Hanoi on the occasion of Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis’s first visit to Vietnam, remarking a new step in the two countries’ bilateral relations. (Labor, Website of CPV)
