The Vietnam-Japan information portal will be built soon to facilitate bilateral cooperation between software companies from the two countries, state media has said.

The initiative comes after a seminar on policy held in Hanoi September 3 as part of the Japan Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day, which is co-hosted by the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA) and the VINASA-Japan IT Cooperation Club (VJC).

The planned portal is expected to facilitate Vietnamese and Japanese software businesses’ access to supporting data, VINASA Chairman Truong Gia Binh said.

The Hanoi Department for Information and Communications will provide facilities and technologies for the construction of the portal while the contents will be undertaken by VJC, Deputy Director of the department Nguyen Manh Dung said.

Japan is Vietnam’s strategic software partner and market as bilateral software trade value has seen annual growths of 40 per cent-50 per cent in recent years.

VINASA forecast Japan will surpass North America to become Vietnam’s largest software partner by 2010.

At present, more than 50 Vietnamese IT and software firms are running business in Japan, some 40 businesses higher than the year 2003. (VNA)
