An Italian trade mission including 150 leading businesses led by Minister of Economic Development Claudio Scajola will tour Vietnam from November 4 to 7 to seek more business cooperation opportunities, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The businesses specialize in food processing, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, leather shoes, garment and textile, household utensils, wooden product and toy production, construction materials, auto spare parts and machinery, said the agency.

The four-day visit is co-organized by the Italian Trade Bureau, Industrial Association and Banking Association, said the Italian Embassy in Vietnam.

In July this year, the Italia-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and the Turin-based center for Vietnamese studies jointly made debut an information portal, Viet-it Affairs, the first of its kind, to serve Italian and Vietnamese investors, the agency added.

Viet-it Affairs will publish information in the Italian, English and Vietnamese regarding business, culture, tourism, finance, trade and exhibition activities of the two countries, and provide information on communication courses such as interpretation, marketing for Vietnamese and Italian entrepreneurs.

The bilateral trade between Vietnam and Italy is expected to reach US$1.5 billion this year. In the first four months this year, Vietnam had shipped US$288.55 million goods to Italy.

As of late October of last year, Italian investors invested US$93.27 million into 23 projects in the Asean country. (VNA)
