Coffee Export Hits US$1.77 Bln in Jan-November
Vietnam is estimated to have notched up US$1.772 billion from shipping 853,000 tons of coffee in the first eleven months of 2008, making a slight rise of 6.6 per cent in value, with a sharp decrease of 21.4 per cent in volume, report from the General Statistics Office showed.
The report said that in November the country exported 50,000 tons of coffee valued at US$92 million, up from 39,000 tons worth US$71 million in October.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade expected that the country will raise the total coffee export revenues to US$1.955 billion by the year’s end by exporting 983,000 tons, down 25.8 per cent in value and 16.7 per cent in volume compared to 2007. (GSO Nov Edition, Vietnam & World Economy Nov 24)
