Czech KV VENTI Company will help Vietnam build 12 wind-to-power plants with a combined capacity of 1,000 MW next year, the company's director Dacid Jozefy said.

KV VENTI will be in charge of not only setting up wind turbines, power stations, but also helping domestic operators with maintenance.

The company will open a representative office in Hanoi early next year in order to make easy in seeking partners for wind-to-power projects, Jozefy attributed.

All the projects have to date received investment licenses with 60 per cent of funding to come from domestic investors.

Experts from the World Bank (WB) estimated that Vietnam with the coastal line of more than 3,000 kilometers will have the wind-to-power potential of 513,000 megawatts, the greatest capacity in Southeast Asia.

The figure is more than 200 times larger than the regional largest 2,400-MW hydropower plant of Son La, and 10 times larger than the country’s combined power systems by 2020. (Vietnam Financial Times)
