Chinese Official: China, Vietnam Join Hands to Cope with Crisis
During meetings with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi Dec 8, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the China National People's Congress Chen Zhili said China is willing to join hands with Vietnam to deal with the global financial tsunami, Vietnamese state media said.
Ms Chen Zhili higly spoke of the Sina-Vietnam strategic relations and the Chinese lawmakers are on visit to Vietnam with aims to beef up the bilateral comprehensive and strategic ties.
In separate meetings with Ms Chen, Party Chief Nong Duc Manh and Chairman of Vietnam's national assembly Nguyen Phu Trong noted Vietnam treasures ties with China and called on Vietnam and China to further boost cooperation in legislature by increasing exchanges and collaboration in information and experience sharing.
On the same day, Tong Thi Phong, vice chairwoman of the national assembly had a meeting with Ms Chen.
Phong noted that Vietnam is willing to be a friend and reliable partner of other countries with a view to sustainable relations based on principles of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty and territory, non-interference in each other's internal affairs and the base of equality and mutual benefit.
