David Spooner: Vietnam Cos Should Boost Exports to the U.S.
Vietnamese companies should improve the quality of goods and boost exports to the U.S., U.S. Assistant Commerce Secretary David Spooner was quoted by Vietnam News Agency.
At a dialogue on bilateral trade policies between the U.S. and Vietnam, co-held by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hanoi Dec 10, David Spooner shared difficulties with local companies and also warned that anti-dumping lawsuits will continue and will likely stabilize in six months to come.
Le Van Dao, vice chairman of the Vietnam Garment and Apparel Association raised concerns over likely protection, proposing local companies to prioritize high added value contracts, particularly exports to the U.S.
The U.S. Department of Commerce recently concluded that Vietnam did not dump apparels and Vietnam Garment and Apparel Association hailed DOC’s decision.
The U.S. is among biggest importers of Vietnamese goods.
This year, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the U.S. will surpass US$15 billion. (VNA)
