India to Help Vietnam Build 3 Hydropower Plants
The Vietnamese Ministries of Finance, and Planning and Investment are negotiating with Indian government to get preferential loans for three hydropower projects in Vietnam, state media reported, citing the ministries' sources.
The 19.5-MW Yan Tann Sien plant is slated for construction in Lac Duong district of central highlands Lam Dong province with an expected completion in June of 2010.
Meanwhile, Nam Trai 4 plant will be built in Hua Trai commune, Muong La district of mountainous northern Son La province, and 14.4-MW Nam He plant in northern Dien Bien province.
Vietnam plans to raise total capacity of hydropower generation projects to more than 18,000 MW and the annual output of over 80 billion kWh by 2015. (
