Vietnam is expected to invest VND38 billion (US$2.23 millioin) to upgrade the current government website into the portal from now to 2010.

Under a project approved by the government this week, the government portal will serve information exchange between the government and government agencies (G2G), the government and citizen (G2C), the government and businesses (G2B), and the government and overseas people.

The content of this portal will be sourced from the government’s official sources and allow users to have access to it anytime and anywhere by various equipment.

The portal will also include the government’s e-newspaper, the digital administrative map, and other multimedia applications.

The current government website was put into operation on January 10, 2006. It attracts millions of visitors a day and is linked to over 200 websites worldwide. (VietNamNet)
