DOC: Vietnam-U.S. Trade Hits US$15.28 Bln in 2008, Up 23.61 per cent On Year

The U.S. Department of Commerce has just said that bilateral trade between Vietnam and the U.S. reached US$15.283 billion, representing an on year rise of 23.61 per cent.
 
Of the total sum, Vietnam exported US$12.610 billion worth of goods, up 19.60 per cent on year while the U.S. shipped US$2.673 billion to Vietnam, rising 46.60 per cent from a year ago, the DOC said.
 
Vietnam’s key exports to the U.S. which saw on year high growth rates included apparels (US$5.265 billion, up 19.97 per cent), furniture products (US$1.456 billion, +18.5 per cent), and footwear (US$1.211 billion, +17.5 per cent).
 
Of the 15 key exports to the U.S., car and transportation vehicles took the lead with export value of US$322 million, and at the bottom was toy and sports value of US$81 million, the DOC said.
 
Meanwhile, of U.S. exports to Vietnam, meat and viscera jumped 299.5 per cent to US$230 million, taking the lead. (Young People, VoV)
