HCM City's Jan Exports Fall 20.2 per cent On-Year to US$1.34 Bln

Vietnam’s southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City reportedly reaped US$1.34 billion from exports in the first month of this year, down 6.8 per cent on-month and 20.2 per cent on-year, said the Industry and Trade Newspaper.
 
Crude oil, the city’s biggest cash earner saw the highest fall of 55.1 per cent to US$400 million during the month due to the sharp price fall in the world market. It is followed by milk products valued at US$4.7 million, down 33.7 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, other key export items reported on-year increases such as apparel with US$135.5 million, up 10.1 per cent, rice with US$40 million, up 3.8 times, seafood with US$31 million, up 11.2 per cent, footwear with US$29.1 million, up 7.3 per cent. (Industry & Trade)
