TienPhongBank is speeding up application of IT solutions in a move to double its pretax profit to about VND150 billion (US$8.6 million) this year, state media quoted Chief Executive Officer Dao Trong Khanh as saying.

The Hanoi-based bank currently takes the lead among domestic lenders in IT application, Khanh added.

TPB was established on June 6, 2008 by local software giant FPT, mobile phone service provider MobiFone and the Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation (VinaRe).

Khanh said the bank will focus on numerous customers of FPT and MobiFone and expects to increase its chartered capital to over VND3 trillion (US$172 million) by 2010 from the current VND1 trillion (US$57.3 million).

It also plans to open more branches in Hanoi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Can Tho and Da Nang this year.

Last year, TienPhongBank posted an impressive figure of VND68.5 billion (US$3.92 million) in pre-tax profit. (Vietnam Economic Times)
