The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance's Insurance Supervision Department has just requested AIG Vietnam's life and non-life insurers report about their performances after AIG Holding's US$60 billion loss, the online Website vnexpress.net said Friday.

“We are waiting for reports from AIG Vietnam before announcing publicly,” an official of the department said.

According to Reuters, AIG is in talks with the U.S. administration for supports.

AIG's life insurer has a registered capital of VND970 billion, higher than the required capital of VND600 billion and has operated since 1999 while AIG's nonlife insurer started operation in Vietnam with a registered capital of VND320 billion. (vnexpress.net)
