Vietnam PM: Kuwait, Key Gulf Partner; Two-way Trade Jumps Threefold US$150 Mln

Vietnam sees Kuwait as a key partner in the Gulf, urging for a boost to oil and gas, trade, investment and labor cooperation, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Kuwaiti King Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-jaber Al-sabah during talks in Bayan Palance on Mar 11’s afternoon.
 
PM Dung pledged incentives for investors from the Gulf country, particularly in oil refinery projects. Kuwaiti firms are in talks with Vietnamese counterparts for oil refineries including oil refinery of Nghi Son.
 
Dung also conveyed the invitation to the king from President Triet to pay a visit to Vietnam soon.
 
On the same day, Dung met with speaker of Kuwait’s parliament Jassem Al Kharafi.
 
During Dung’s working trip to Kuwait, the two sides have signed double taxation avoidance agreement, cooperation deals in aviation and agriculture.
 
Two-way trade between Vietnam and the Gulf country jumped threefold to US$150 million in 2008. (www.chinhphu.vn)
