The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is planning to provide direct assistance with a combined funding of VND890 billion (US$52.66 million) for 12 export items that are facing difficulties in finding outlets.

The exports will include seafood, frozen pork, vegetables and fruits, apparel, footwear, handbags-suitcase-umbrella, woodwork products, electronics and computer components, handicrafts, plastic products, electric wires and cables, and engineering products.

The assistance will be VND40/USD for garments and textiles and VND20/USD for other items, said the ministry, adding that total funding for apparel will reach VND420 billion.

Exporters that have shipped their products and had export invoices will be eligible for direct assistance.

The MoIT is mulling over assistance modes in order to comply with the WTO’s regulation, said the ministry.
