Brazil Okays 60 Vietnamese Firms to Export Seafood
Brazil March 12 decided to allow 60 Vietnamese seafood companies to export to this country, Vietnamese state media reported, citing the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The decision paves the way for Vietnamese seafood, particularly pangasius products, to be exported to Brazil market, the biggest market in South America with population hitting 190 million people.
The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Supply noted that to export to this potential country, the Vietnamese seafood companies have to send document on seafood production progresses and label with the DIPES/DIPOA agency.
According to the Vietnamese trade office in Brazil, some Brazilian enterprises have came to the office, asking for support to seek for Vietnamese partners to import 2,000-3,000 tons of pangasius from Vietnam to be distributed to supermarkets, distribution centers and hotels and restaurants.
So far, Brazil still has to import Vietnam-origin seafood products via businessmen from third countries. (The People, Labor)
