Vinacomin to Export 20.5 Mln Tons of Coal This Year
The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) has targeted to export 20.5 million tons of coal this year. The group’s coal domestic sales will reach 19.5 million tons in 2009.
Vinacomin’s coal output is estimated to hit 10.2 million tons in the first quarter this year, accounting for 24 per cent of this year’s target, and down 10 per cent on year.
In the first quarter this year, Vinacomin is forecast to sell out nine million tons of coal, including 5.1 million tons for exports, up 12 per cent on year; and 3.9 million tons to local market, down 12 per cent on year.
As of the end of this quarter, Vinacomin’s stocked coal volume is estimated at 7.62 million tons, down 465,000 tons or 5.74 per cent compared to that in late 2008.
Vinacomin said it produced 5.75 million tons of clean coal in the first two months this year, down 6 per cent on-year. Coal exports were reported at 2.92 million tons in the period, up 3.9 per cent on-year. (Vietnam & World Economy)
