Vietnamese Firm Striving to Resume Blue-dragon Fruit Export to the U.S.

The Saigon Trade Production and Development Corporation (Sadaco) is going to negotiate with the U.S. partner to resume export of blue-dragon fruit to the U.S, according to Do Ngoc Son, director of Sadaco’s branch in Binh Thuan province.
 
Son said the Son Son JSC, the only company in Vietnam having irradiation machine, agreed to irradiate the fruit.
 
The Son Son JSC’s general director, Tram Trong Ngan, said its machine is ready to run and price for irradiation will remain at US$1/kilo.
 
Son Son’s Irradiation Plant with total capacity of 250 tons a day halted running for repair since December 2008, affecting export of Vietnamese blue-dragon fruit to the U.S.
 
Vietnam has so far exported 105 tons of blue-dragon fruits to the U.S. (Youth)
