Vietnam Signs Up 7.3M New Telephone Subscribers in Q1, Up 70.5 per cent
Vietnam had signed up an additional 7.3 million new phone subscribers in the first quarter of this year, up 70.5 per cent on year, the General Statistics Office reported.
In total, the country had a total of 86.8 million telephone subscribers by end-March 2009, including 52.3 million of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT).
The total revenues of Vietnam’s post and telecommunication sector reached VND19.8 trillion during the period, a rise of 33.3 per cent on year.
So far, Vietnam has 2.1 million broadband Internet subscribers.
There are seven mobile networks in Vietnam namely VinaPhone, MobiFone and Viettel S-Fone, EVN Telecom, HT Mobile and GTel. (Investment)
