Vietnam-Netherlands Trade +23.32 per cent to US$2.09B in 2008
The two-way trade between the Netherlands and Vietnam rose 23.32 per cent on year to US$2.09 billion last year, according to the Communist Party of Vietnam note on its website.
Of that figure, Vietnam shipped US$1.53 billion of goods, up 29.82 per cent from a year earlier.
Vietnam's main exports saw robust growth; seafood posted US$140.78 million, up 7.7 per cent, cashew nuts US$152.6 million, up 57.87 per cent, apparels US$152.25 million, up 14.84 per cent, PC and electronic products US$205.86 million, footwear US$387.78 million, up 38.89 per cent.
Trade counselor in the Netherlands Nguyen Hai Tinh said the foreign country recently imported furniture, glassware products, plastics and domestic utensils and trade with the Netherlands will post robust growth in coming years.
By end-2008, Dutch firms were listed the seventeenth biggest European FDI investor in Vietnam with registered FDI capital of US$2.626 billion, of which US$1.496 billion was implemented.
The Dutch FDI investments are rated 13th in Vietnam. (CPV)
