Vietnam’s power capacity is estimated at 170,000 MW with 106,000 megawatts of coal-fired plants by 2015.

Demand for equipment for coal-fired power plants in Vietnam is great and will increase considerably in the near future, it said.

Currently, most of thermal power plants in Vietnam have to import equipment from foreign countries, and only some using locally-made equipment such as Na Duong, Phu My 3, Phu My4 and Ca Mau.

Doosan group of South Korea and Vietnam Machinery Installation Group (Lilama) are joining hands to carry out a project design and manufacture synchronic equipment for coal-fired plants with turbine capacity up to 600 MW.

Doosan and Lilama will supply locally-made equipment for four-turbine 2,400-MW Haiphong 3 and two-turbine 1,200-MW Long Phu 2 coal-fired plants. (Trade & Industry)
