Price of Vietnamese coffee has increased sharply over the past week, according to the Industry and Trade Information Center under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Export price of Vietnamese coffee rose to US$1,450-US$1,470/ton, up US$20/ton from previous week.

At domestic market, the product price rose by VND800/kilo to VND25,000.

According to head of the World Coffee Organization, Nestor Osorio, coffee price may stand high in the world market because of thin supply.

The world’s coffee supply is forecast to decrease by 6 million-8 million bags of 60 kilograms in 2009-2010 crop due to output decrease in such main coffee producers as Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia and Middle America. (Vietnam & World Economy)
