As many as 301 Vietnamese seafood companies all have met requirements to ship their products to European markets, Vietnam’s National Agriculture and Fisheries Quality Assurance Directorate (NAFIQAD) said in a statement.

The statement, co-issued by the NAFIQAD and a delegation from EU, focused on inspecting production facilities of these seafood firms to see whether they fulfill commitments on quality set by EU and Vietnam.

The inspection result makes an important role in the development of domestic fisheries sector because EU is considered the biggest importer of Vietnamese seafood.

Last year, EU bloc imported 349,000 tons of seafood worth US$1.14 billion from Vietnam, up 26 per cent on year in terms of value.

EU may allow an additional 30 companies if they meet food safety and hygiene standards. (Vietnamese Law, News)
