JICA, ADB Finance Expressway in Southern Vietnam

The Transport Ministry has listed Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway with the first-phase investment of US$1.23 billion among the projects funded by JICA and ADB.
 
The project will receive a US$500-million loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to build two bridges on it namely Binh Khanh and Phuoc Khanh.
 
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide a US$733.25-million loan for building the remaining part of the project.
 
The highway, invested by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), is 50 kilometers long and has four lanes in the first construction stage.
 
Once completed, the expressway will link Ho Chi Minh City’s south to its neighboring area.
 
It will be connected to Ho Chi Minh City-Vung Tau Highway which will be built soon, forming part of an economic corridor in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) stretching from Bangkok (Thailand), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Ho Chi Minh City to Thi Vai Port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau. (Investment)
