Goods Prices Up 5 - 15 per cent amid Salary Price Hike in Vietnam
Prices of many essential commodities in the domestic market have been rising in recent days by between 5 per cent-15 per cent mainly driven by input costs and salary increases, according to local traders.
Many goods suppliers for Saigon Co.op, Vietnam's leading retail chain store operator, had quoted prices higher before the National Reunification Day [Apr 30] with explained reasons of increases in production materials, labor and transport costs, and forex exchange, said Bui Hanh Thu, vice chairwoman.
At the supermarket chain of Saigon Co.op, prices of imports have grown by 2 per cent-10 per cent, washing-up liquid up between 5 per cent-15 per cent and some others up 17 per cent-18 per cent.
The price hikes have caused pressure on domestic retailers amid the slight increase in consumption demand, said the newspaper, adding that they cause great concerns for local consumers, especially housewives. (Youth)
