Hanoi's Jan-May Exports +1.5 per cent

Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi is forecast to see an on-year increase in export value of 1.5 per cent in the first five months of this year, said the municipal Statistics Office giving no exact figures.
 
In May, the city’s export turnover rises by 9.5 per cent from the previous month.
 
Some key exports reported big falls, including rice of 57.3 per cent, pepper of 45.1 per cent, footwear of 21.6 per cent, computer spare parts of 19.9 per cent, and apparel of 12.2 per cent.
 
Meanwhile, coffee increases by 9.7 per cent, and electronics up 19.5 per cent
 
The city targets to obtain between 15 per cent-20 per cent of export growth in 2009.
 
In 2008, Hanoi earned US$6.936 billion from goods exports, up 35.5 per cent on year. (Labor)
