The Australian Wine and Food Show 2009 in Vietnam
The second annual Australian Wine and Food Show will take place again at New World Hotel Saigon in late May, showcasing Australian foods and over 150 wines to both public and hospitality industry professionals.
“We want to show that Vietnam is not just a tea, beer and whisky country. It makes sense to hold this annual event here to showcase Australia to South East Asia,” said Mr. Jim Cawood, General Director of Vino Vietnam, an importer and distributor of Australian wines and co-organizer of the event.
In the week leading up to the AWFS, from May 25 to May 30, there will be an Australian Food and Wine Week in which various restaurants around the city will be offering special lunch time menus with a glass of Australian wine, giving diners a chance to ‘taste Australia’ throughout the week.
Showcasing such Australian produce as beef and lamb, a large variety of cheese, oysters and other seafoods, and highlighting numerous Australian-owned-and-run restaurants around Ho Chi Minh City, the Australian Food and Wine Show seeks to introduce Vietnamese customers to the various and varied contemporary cuisines of the Land Down Under.
With Australian celebrity chef Paul McMahon of Sydney's Catalina Rose Bay Restaurant attending the event as a guest of the New World Hotel to create a set lunch and dinner menu over the week, introducing his favourite produce from Australia which will be matched with wines by the glass.
