Vietnam-Uruguay Trade Jumps 2.5 Folds to US$69.3M in 2008
Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Uruguay expanded 2.5 times to US$69.3 million in 2008, the state-run Cong Thuong newspaper said, citing Vietnam Trade Office in Argentina.
The trade office noted Vietnam mainly exports shoes, printers, coconut cooked rice, bags, fish, automobile tyres, rubber, sewing machines and apparel while importing wood, leather, pharmaceuticals, milk, cheese and mutton.
Vietnam and Uruguay have just signed an investment promotion agreement as part of co-efforts to boost investment, trade ties during the Vietnamese vice president’s visit to the foreign country, state media said.
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Uruguay’s foreign ministry co-held a business conference with participation of 40 Vietnamese companies specialized in apparel, footwear, building materials, gemstones and gold, LPG, real estate and pharmaceuticals as well as 90 Uruguay’s firms.
