Hanoi May CPI Likely +0.24 per cent on Month, +12.91 per cent On Year
Consumer price index of Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi is forecast to have risen 0.24 per cent on month and 12.91 per cent on year in May, the state-run newspapers said, citing the city’s department for statistics.
The city’s CPI hikes in May are driven by transport and telecom, which are forecast to have surged 2.31 per cent and prices of drinks and tobacco, apparels and footwear, hats, housing, fuels, and building materials have soared between 0.05 per cent and 2.23 per cent, the department said.
Food and foodstuff is estimated to have been down 0.25 per cent in the month while education and books unchanged, the department noted.
In the month, gold and dollar are forecast to have risen 0.19 per cent and 1.96 per cent, respectively, it elaborated.
In April, Hanoi’s CPI soared 0.13 per cent on month and 10.7 per cent on year, state media said.
The government usually issues CPI figures based on estimates before the end of the reporting period. (New Hanoi, Vietnam Economic Times)
