Northern Vietnam ’08 Industrial Value Hits VND31T

Northern Vietnam’s industrial production value in 2008 reached VND31 trillion (US$1.823 billion), the Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a statement without giving comparative figures.
 
In the first quarter, the industrial production value posted by 14 northern highland provinces was VND15.3 trillion, fulfilling 41.1 per cent of the region’s target for 2009 despite impacts of global downturn, the MOIT told a conference held in Tuyen Quang province.
 
Between January and March, state-owned companies had VND741 billion and private firms made VND6.5 trillion.
 
Vietnam’s industrial production value was estimated to have increased 3.3 per cent to VND209 trillion (US$12.22 billion) in the first four months this year, the government’s General Statistics Office said. (Industry & Trade)
