ADB Teams Up with 8 Vietnam Banks to Boost External Trade
The Asian Development Bank signed on May 20 financial contracts with eight banks in Vietnam to help boost the country’s external trade this year.
The ADB will support Vietnam to boost external trade to weather the current global turmoil; the deals are part of its recently expanded US$1 billion Trade Finance Facilitation Program (TFFP) for Asia, Ayumi Konishi, ADB’s country director in Vietnam said.
The TFFP is expected to amount to US$15 billion to facilitate trade in Asia by end-2013.
The eight banks are Asia Commercial Bank, Military Bank, Saigon Thuong Tin Bank (STB.VH), Techcombank, Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade, Vietnam Export Import Bank, and Vietnam International Bank.
