Martin Rama, an economist of the World Bank, is optimistic about Vietnam’s economy with industrial production value will likely grow double-digit pace this year.

The country’s construction production value expanded 6.92 per cent in the first quarter, Martin Rama said.

Between 9 Oct of 2008 and 3 April of 2009, sales of cement jumped 40 per cent while sales of steel rocketed 115 per cent, Martin Rama pointed out, hailing teeth of the government’s demand stimulus efforts.

In the second quarter, electricity sector is expected to grow 10 per cent-12 per cent, compared with 16 per cent for the full-year target, he noted. (Young People)
