Vietnam Jan-Apr Exports to Cambodia Down 28.84 per cent to US$331.352M
Vietnam shipped US$331.352 million of exports to Cambodia in the first four months this year, down 28.24 per cent on-year, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
Petroleum products topped the list with US$142.929 million, 43.14 per cent of the country’s total export turnover to the neighbor.
It was followed by iron and steel with 55,631 tons worth US$35.42 million, making up 10.69 per cent of its total export turnover, plastic products with US$12.848 million and confectionery and grain with US$11.437 million.
During the period, Vietnam spent US$67.51 million on goods from Cambodia, down 25.26 per cent on-year, resulting in Vietnam’s large trade surplus of US$263.842 million.
Vietnam’s key imports from Cambodia included rubber with 12,718 tons costing US$17.665 million during the time, down 8.72 per cent, woodwork products of US$12.551 million, down 40.19 per cent and cigarettes of US$2.165 million, down 65.4 per cent.
Cambodia and Vietnam are expected to achieve US$2 billion in bilateral trade this year, up from US$1.7 billion in 2008. (Vinanet)
