Vietnam Footwear Producers to Join Int’l Shoes Fair in Japan
Vietnam’s trade office in Japan said the organizing committee of the 39th International Shoe and Leathergoods Fair (ISF) has invited Vietnamese footwear producers to join the event to take place in Tokyo from October 6-8.
The fair will be a good opportunity for domestic makers and traders to seek more partners and push up their exports to Japan, which is one among three key importers of the country’s footwear sector, along with the U.S. and EU.
Vietnam’s footwear exports to the Asian market are expected to up due to the reduction of import tariff following the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) effective June 24 2009.
The leather and footwear sector’s export turnover was estimated to have reached over US$2 billion in the first half, down 8.8 per cent on year. (Investment)
