Gold Prices Surpass VND21M/Tael Mark in Vietnam
Domestic gold prices increased to between VND21.14 million and VND21.18 million per tael on July 20, up VND200,000 against the previous day’s price, the Youth newspaper reported, predicting that the price would continue its upward trend.
The move follows a recent rise in global gold prices, which hit US$948 per ounce on the same day, the paper said.
Gold prices in Vietnam reached a record high of VND21.65 million per tael on June 1.
Currently, transactions in the domestic market are still frozen, which is attributed to the fact that many people who own gold are holding on to it, while investors are tending to wait for a further decrease in price. (Youth)
