Vietnam Targets IT Revenue to Occupy 20% GDP by 2020
Vietnam has set a goal to make gross revenue of information and technology industry account for 20%-23% of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2020.
This is one of the country’s main targets to become a strong IT nation by 2020, the Ministry of Information and Communication said in its ongoing draft on the IT industry development.
The IT industry is set to grow at average rate that doubles the country’s annual GDP growth.
By 2020, Vietnam is expected to be ranked 60th in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU)’s list of global ICT growth. It is now named 92nd.
The Southeast Asian country will focus its investment in broadband infrastructure, IT manpower development, IT application in social life and e-government, software and hardware production, and development of large-scale telecom and IT companies. (Investment)
