EVN to Sell Electricity Directly to 7.4 Million Households through 2010
The state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) plans to complete its program to sell electricity directly to 7.4 million households in 5,300 communes across the country through 2010.
In the Jan-Oct period this year EVN sold electricity directly to 2.6 million households in 2,397 rural communes nationwide.
The group slashes the power leakage rate by 0.93% per year, equivalent to a value of VND200 billion (US$10.822 million) annually, quoted EVN General Director Pham Le Thanh.
EVN saves 1% of the country’s total commercial power output per annum, Thanh told Chairman Huynh Dan of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Dec. 7.
He added that the group saved 1 billion kWh of electricity last year, equivalent to VND800 billion. (New Hanoi)
