Vietnam to Take Lead in Solar Energy in ASEAN Next 2 Years: U.S. Cenergy Pwr
Vietnam will take the lead in solar energy development projects in ASEAN region in the next two years, said Nguyen Trong Nguyen, chief representative of the U.S. Cenergy Power in Vietnam.
From the second quarter to the fourth quarter of this year, Cenergy Power will train 100 engineers to install solar energy appliances in the Southeast Asian country, Nguyen contributed.
In January, the U.S. clean power solutions company set up a subsidiary in Vietnam to focus on solar energy development.
The firm plans to cooperate with Vietnamese Power Company No. 1 (PC1) to pilot two solar energy projects in Cat Ba island in the northern city of Haiphong and in Bach Long Vi island in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
Vietnam boasts a huge potential to develop solar energy. The country has up to, between 2,000 hours and 2,500 hours of sunshine a year, with solar radiation of 3-3.5 kWh per square meter per day in the winter and of 4.5-6.5 kWh per square meter per day in the summer. (
