PetroVietnam Boosts Energy Cooperation with U.S., Argentina Partners
The state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) met and signed several energy cooperation agreements with U.S. and Argentine partners during Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit to the countries between April 12 and 17.
Between April 12 and 14, PetroVietnam worked with oil and gas groups of the U.S. including Chevron, ConocoPhilips, GE, Baker Hughes and Schlumberger and signed a comprehensive cooperation deal with GE Oil & Gas, PetroVietnam said on its website Wednesday.
From April 15 and 17, PetroVietnam held talks with Argentina’s state oil and gas company - Energía Argentina Sociedad Anónima (ENARSA) to join oil and gas production and exploration projects offshore the Latin country.
The Vietnamese group also signed three agreements totaling $3.2 billion on wind energy and hydropower development and electric equipment production in Vietnam with IMPSA metallurgy group of Argentina during the three-day period.
PetroVietnam has been pursuing a strategy to seek investment opportunities in America, where it already signed a number of oil and gas contracts with its partners from Cuba, Venezuela and Peru. (
