PetroVietnam Starts US$3B Power Center in Central Province

The state-run Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) has kick-started the US$3-billion Quang Trach coal-fired power center in the central province of Quang Binh, three years behind the initial schedule.
 
The center will comprise two plants with a combined capacity of 3,600 MW namely Quang Trach 1 and Quang Trach 2.
 
Quang Trach 1 plant is expected for completion in 2015 and Quang Trach 2 plant in 2016.
 
As of July 2009, PetroVietnam had invested in 13 power projects with a combined capacity of 10,000 MW. (Trade & Industry)
