Phu Nhuan Business Association: Home of Business Members

Located in an industrial and service centre, Phu Nhuan Business Association (Ho Chi Minh City) has been creative in its activities and developing membership. Three years after its establishment, the Association has become the home of businesses, entrepreneurs and employers in the district.
 
From 50 members in 2007, the Association has now 120 members, and offers activities connecting related authorities with businesses, economic managers, both local and foreign. Besides coordinating business activities, the Association has also contributed to the socio-economic development of the district as well as the objectives of the whole nation. The Association has raised its professional standards to meet ever-increasing member demand. For instance, the Association has tried its best to protect the interests of members, improve the image and reputation of the Association among the business community, and upgrade the capacity of Association staff to serve as the bridge between State authorities and businesses managers.
 
In 2009, with impact of the economic recession affecting all socio-economic activities, the Association demonstrated its role, supporting members in business activities, organizing meetings between related authorities and businesses to remove constraints, and promoting products and services, contributing to State revenue, economic development and social welfare. In particular, the Association sponsored several activities assisting businesses, for instance, in conjunction with Phu Nhuan People’s Committee, convening annual business meetings, recommending business assistance programmes, exchanging business visits, and developing business partnerships to promote cooperation and exchanges.
 
The Association and businesses have also taken on social responsibilities, contributing to community welfare. In 2009, the Association donated a house worth VND30 million in Can Gio district, contributed to the “Fund for the Poor” in Phu Nhuan, sent relief to flood victims in Central Vietnam, sponsored the Business Tennis Tournament 2009, and contributed financial assistance to Phu Nhuan hospital on the occasion of Vietnam Physicians Day. Meanwhile, many other businesses have their own assistance programmes with the local authorities.
 
Discussing the development plan, Mr Nguyen Tien, Chairman of Phu Nhuan Business Association, said that the Association will build itself stronger and contribute more significantly to the district’s socio-economic development. The Association will work with related authorities increase awareness and compliance of State laws by businesses, conduct surveys and organize seminars and workshops to promote business activities, and at the same time encourage businesses to increase their contribution to State revenue, social welfare and the development of a strong business community.
