Providing Green Coverage for Mountainous Areas
British American Tobacco - Vinataba Joint Venture Company (BAT - Vinataba JVC) on August 10 held a ceremony to hand over more than 220,000 acacia, eucalyptus seedlings, worth nearly 115 million VND for farmers and plantation units in Cao Bang. This was the second spell of plant handover under BAT - Vinataba JVC’s program to support tree planting and greening in 2010 with over 2 million seedlings of VND1 billion to the five provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Gia Lai, Cao Bang and Lang Son.
Previously, on 6 July 2010, BAT - Vinataba JVC, in collaboration with Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Nai granted 281,500 seedlings to farmers and plantation units in Dong Nai. The number of seedlings remaining will be provided to farmers and receiving units in the third quarter of 2010.
Tree planting and greening is a long-term program of BAT - Vinataba JVC. This program is responding to an appeal of Vietnam’s Government to protect and conserve the forest resource of the country.
