Good Taxpayers in 2009 Honoured
On September 7, 2010, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Taxation hosted an assembly to compliment good individual and institutional taxpayers in 2009. As many as 1,108 individuals and organisations excellently completed tax payments in the past year.
In 2009, Ho Chi Minh City - the largest city in Vietnam - fulfilled 18 out of 20 socioeconomic norms with tax revenues surpassing 6.64 % of the plan. In the eight months of 2010, the city’s State budget revenues completed 72.6 % of the annual plan and rose 25 % from a year ago.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms Nguyen Thi Hong, Vice Mayor of Ho Chi Minh City, hailed awardees for their efforts to live through difficulties and challenges in the context of mounting competition after Vietnam entered the World Trade Organisation (WTO). She also urged tax authorities and businesses to coordinate to complete tax procedures more smoothly. For the tax sector, many new policies and instructions need to be reported to taxpayers. More tax procedures are also needed to be streamlined.
