PARU Project Initiated
The second round of the initiative called the Policy Action Research Unit (PARU) has been launched in Ho Chi Minh City. This initiative will be carried out through the end of 2011, serving as a catalyst for policy changes to help more poor people to get involved in the market in Vietnam.
PARU is a component of the second phase of Making Markets Work Better for the Poor (M4P2) funded by the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment, the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and Asia Development Bank (ADB).
The second research round will focus on activities aimed to improve training/learning (transmitting) systems in nonofficial economic areas and testing new approaches to improve public-private partnerships in maintaining rural roads. In the first research round, the Policy Action Research Component carried out four research projects in agricultural contract fields and vocational training system improvement.
Information about the second round of PARU research is published extensively on the project site at www.markets4poor.org. The organization conducting the study will be selected on the basis of competitive bidding, and financed worth up to US$70,000 for each study.
