CG Meeting for Vietnam 2010 to Open in Hanoi

The World Bank (WB) said the Consultative Group (CG) for Vietnam will hold its annual meeting on December 7 - 8, 2010 in the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi. The overarching theme of the meeting will be stabilising the macro-economy and focusing on sustainable development.
 
Topics for discussion include: Vietnam as a middle income country (MIC) - Key opportunities and threats: Macro-economic situation in 2010 and directions for 2011, governance, transparency and effectiveness of the state economic sector, governance and anti-corruption; and Priorities for sustainable development: Promoting sustainable development - sustainable rural development and a more strategic approach to climate change financing.
 
The meeting will also focus on Ensuring social inclusion: Directions for poverty reduction and social protection; and the future of development partnership as Vietnam joins MIC.
 
Ahead of the CG, a separate Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) with the private sector – domestic and foreign – will be held on December 2, 2010 in Hanoi, by the World Bank Group's member – the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
